BRITAIN’S interior minister Priti Patel said security measures would be put in place for lawmakers after MP David Amess, 69, was murdered, adding that people who attacked democracy would not succeed.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson visited the church where Amess, of the Conservative Party, was stabbed to death on Friday.

Amess was attacked in Leigh-onSea, east of London, while meeting with constituents. Police arrested a 25-year-old British man at the scene on suspicion of murder, adding they believed he acted alone. They had earlier revealed a potential Islamist extremism.
