CHRIS Hani’s killer, Janusz Walus, who was expected to be freed on parole, will not be released until he has fully recovered from being stabbed in prison.
Walus’s release had been initially set for Thursday following a Constitutional Court directive to Justice Minister Ronald Lamola. Walus was in a stable condition after he was stabbed by a fellow inmate on Tuesday.
Justice and Correctional Services Ministry spokesperson Chrispin Phiri said: “By agreement between his legal representatives and the state attorney, the matter of Mr Walus’s parole will only be finalised after he has received the necessary medical clearance from the medical team.” |
