ESwatini
THE charges under the Suppression of Terrorism Act levied against two eSwatini members of parliament who were arrested at the weekend are fabricated and must be dropped, Amnesty International said this week.
Mduduzi Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube have been targeted for their political views, Amnesty’s director for East and southern Africa Deprose Muchena said.
“Both MPs are victims of a political witch-hunt which is designed to silence any voice that is demanding political reforms and human rights amid prodemocracy protests that have erupted in the country,” he said.
