How you can help Mother Nature heal

RUBY GRACE SPINAS

IN TODAY’S world, humanity has invented things that the Stone Age would never have even thought of.

Humans are amazing creatures. However, as time flew by, things started to change. In 1914, World War 1 started. It lasted four years and finished in 1918.

Twenty-one years later, World War 11 began. It lasted six years and ended in 1945. Over time, most humans have become selfish and disobedient. But there is still hope if we all work together.

Humans have accomplished many incredible feats. Nevertheless, actions always have consequences.

Well, I am not giving up on you. I know that you care, deep down.

Mother Nature has warned us. In fact, Mother Nature warns us every single day. She started warning us a long time ago. What if Covid-19 is one of her most recent warnings?

Another warning she has given us is global warming, which is caused by pollution. There are different types of pollution: air pollution, sound pollution, water pollution and littering.

Air pollution:

In Britain in 1952, more than 4000 people died in the Great Smog of London, which lasted five days. Air pollution is caused when factories and cars release carbon dioxide into the air.

We can stop air pollution by using electric cars or even walking. Surprisingly, even something as small as spray-on deodorant adds to pollution.

Sound pollution:

Every day, sound pollution is made. Examples of things that cause sound pollution are traffic and construction sites. Sound pollution can have a negative effect on people and animals. It can cause hearing loss, headaches and anxiety.

What can you do to prevent sound pollution? You can do this by not having the radio on at full blast during your crazy sleepovers. Remember, there are other people around you. Every small noise adds to the sound in the environment.

Water pollution:

Water pollution is when dirt, oil or rubbish gets into the water in our environment. This can happen when factories release oil into the water which damages the habitats of all the things that live there.

Rubbish gets into the rivers when it blows out of landfills or when people throw it into the rivers. Bacteria forms on this rubbish if people don’t clean it up. We can prevent this from happening if we recycle or support smaller companies that don’t have huge factories.

There are many ways we can help the environment. Who knows what will happen and what we can achieve if we do our part?

We can do this.

I will do my part and you do yours, too.
