FUNGUS INFECTIONS IN INDIA
AMID a devastating second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, India is seeing a surge of “black fungus” infections among Covid-19 patients and survivors. Health experts said (black fungus) is caused by exposure to mucor mould found in soil and plants. It affects the lungs, nasal tract and sinuses and has a fatality rate of 50%. Doctors said it was exacerbated by steroids, such as dexamethasone, used to treat severe Covid-19. | African News Agency (ANA)
