Time for young people to see the real enemy

THULANI DASA |

NOW is the time for all of us to come together and pave the way forward to ensure that we build an economy that will create jobs.

I don’t remember any young people coming from Eastern Cape to Cape Town to fight against the so-called “white monopoly capital”.

They all want job opportunities to better their lives and that of their families they left behind. Others need support so they can start their businesses and create jobs for others.

Most of these young people are qualified professionals who can make a significant contribution in bettering the lives of the disadvantaged majority in their home provinces.

We all want to be in the comfortable zone of our homes and be close to our families, but the current government, led by crooks who give jobs to unqualified comrades, family members and girlfriends, award tenders to their friends and families, making it impossible for these young professionals to prosper and make a meaningful contribution to the society and be active participants in the economy of our country.

We cannot erase the injustices of the past, but the current wave of corruption, maladministration, nepotism and cadre deployment by the ruling elite undermines the gains of our freedom, resulting in many capable people leaving their homes and scattered around the country.

It’s time for young people to wake up and see our real enemy, that continues to push the countless millions into the abyss of unemployment and poverty.

Blind loyalty, which has kept the hope of the many poor people alive for the past 28 years, is doing us no justice, as we see after every election that the troughs have changed, but the pigs have remained the same.

Now is the time for us all to come together and pave the way forward to ensure that we build an economy that will create jobs.

Put more pressure on government to do away with useless state-owned enterprises.

Government must recover the money lost through corruption by seizing all the assets and properties of those convicted of corruption.

Together, we can make South Africa a better place for all its citizens.

God bless South Africa.
