HIGHER Education Minister Blade Nzimande has defended the government’s decision to increase the eligibility criteria for National Students Financial Aid Scheme. The government wants NSFAS students to pass 75% of their modules to qualify for funding from 2023. Nzimande and his department have come under fire from student bodies and some of the opposition parties who said they wanted to exclude students from universities. However, Nzimande denied that, saying it would ensure that students finished their degrees in record time.
