THREE days before the anticipated “Friends of Amstel SA” was to take place, organisers postponed the event, due to safety concerns about the rising Covid-19 numbers across the country.
The event’s PR company, Azania Public, said: “A new date will be communicated when the organisers of the event, Heineken SA, and its associated partners, are able to create a safe environment for patrons and music lovers.
“Heineken SA, upholding its safety-first values, would like to play a part in ensuring a safe festive season for all.”
The line-up was set to include big hitters such as Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Mr JazziQ, Lamiez Holworthy, Lulo Cafe, Oscar Mbo, Da Capo, Big Zulu and Sjava. Wizkid, who played at a sold-out The O2 arena on Wednesday, was to be the headliner.
Amstel senior brand manager, Boipelo Malao said: “After months of planning and excitement, it is unfortunate that we have to postpone the ’Friends of Amstel SA’ live event, but we are committed to keeping our friends safe.
“We have seen the rise in Covid19 cases and it is the responsible thing to do to put the safety of our patrons first.”
