Wishing our hard-working leaders well

AS A South African citizen, I am happy that we have Cyril Ramaphosa as president, Alan Winde as premier and Geordin Hill-Lewis as mayor.

I have not had any interactions with the president except for tweeting on his Twitter accounts. I am confident that we have a principled, decent head of government who appears to be working hard to bring South Africa back from the moral and financial morass which the presidency of Jacob Zuma dumped our beautiful country into.

I have contacted both the premier and the new mayor on various matters. Both leaders have consistently responded. This is highly appreciated, especially when I consider that former mayor Dan Plato only once responded to my many emails over many years. That was only to steal my idea and run with it.

It is very refreshing to be acknowledged as a citizen and resident who reaches out to make our city, province and country a better place for all.

May I make use of this opportunity to wish our president, premier and mayor the best ahead in their respective roles.
