For South Africa, there can be no overnight solutions

IN reference to Brian Isaacs’s column on October 14, 2021.

He questions whether reconciliation as agreed upon by Nelson Mandela was worthwhile. He should look at countries such as Libya, Syria, Yemen and others, where people refuse to choose reconciliation as an alternative.

As far as the vote is concerned, the majority of the population in the Western Cape are people of colour. The DA was voted in by the majority in the Western Cape. So, I don’t understand your reasoning.

In some respects, you cannot expect things to happen overnight. For instance, if I had a business of sorts, with a mix of employees that I am satisfied with, what do I do? Start firing my employees because certain individuals consider it politically or economically correct.

What you want is overnight solutions, which is not feasible without chaos and inefficiency ensuing.

You still have time to consider your vote, while treading through the minefield of corruption and failure in government.

We are fast careening into a failed and bankrupt state, with no end in sight.

Enjoy your day.
