A FORMER security guard plans to further his grass-roots activism if elected as councillor for Ward 110 and represents the communities of Lavender Hill, Steenberg, Grassy Park and Retreat.

Independent candidate Aubrey Robinson from Cafda Village wants to improve the lives of community members and assist residents.

Robinson said his community work started in 2002 after he joined the Cafda Residents’ Association and witnessed many promises left unfulfilled by political parties.

This motivated him to stand as an independent candidate with the aim of working for people and assisting them as far as possible.

Robinson said more shelters for the homeless were needed, more accessible recreational facilities for communities, a safety and security plan, updated infrastructure and a sustainable solution to the massive dumping problem in Cafda Village.

“My vision is to see genuine changes whereby every resident will benefit,” Robinson said.

If elected Robinson said he would ensure the elderly and the youth from communities in Ward 110 benefited from various activities such as art programmes and education initiatives, to which he would contribute 20% of his monthly salary.

Lavender Hill resident Donovan Klein said: “I have been in contact with Robinson for a few years now … He is a very passionate, open and hard-working individual.”
