WESTERN Province star loose forward Evan Roos says it has been a “massive honour” to feature so often for coach John Dobson’s side since arriving in Cape Town.

Province will take on the Cheetahs in a Currie Cup clash at Newlands on Saturday (kickoff 2.30pm), and during a media briefing yesterday, Roos said these tough times make the opportunities even better.

“It has been a massive honour to play in so many games, especially in these times where we are living with Covid,” Roos said.

“It has been such an awesome journey so far here at Province.

“This weekend is going to be a tough one, the Cheetahs are a quality outfit and we are going to have to be on top of our game to be competitive.”

The 21-year-old has been a standout for Dobson’s side since touching down in Cape Town from the Sharks.

Roos went on to chat about what the experienced Deon Fourie, who recently returned to Province, brings to the squad.

“Deon brings so much experience and energy into the team,” Roos said of the former Currie Cup-winning Western Province captain.

“He brings a good calmness as well and really shows his leadership skills on and off the field.

“He is such a nice guy, I have got to know him a little bit, and he’s an amazing guy to have around the team.”

Province are currently fifth on the Currie Cup log after three wins from seven games.
